Restoring and Protecting South Carolina’s Public OHV Trail Systems

Southern Trail Advocates and Riders (STAR) is a volunteer-driven, tax-exempt 501 ©(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring, maintaining, and advocating for public off-highway vehicle trail systems across South Carolina.

Leading South Carolina’s trail recovery efforts following Hurricanes Debby and Helene.

Focused on rebuilding sustainable trail treads, drainage systems, and long-term resilience.

Hurricane Helene caused massive damage to our trails; after months of grueling effort clearing fallen red and white oaks, cedar, and pine trees, we need your support—through involvement and sponsorship—to restore the drainage systems and trail tread, ensuring safe and sustainable access for all.

Proven Trail Recovery

Following Hurricanes Debby and Helene, STAR volunteers mobilized to clear storm damage and restore access to South Carolina’s public OHV trail systems.

STAR’s volunteer efforts have helped offset significant public costs associated with storm recovery and trail restoration-work that would otherwise require extensive contracted resources.
